My name is Robert C. Geier. I am 51 years old and live in Nampa, ID. I grew up in an Air Force family so we moved a lot when I was younger. In the sixth grade, we moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming and that is where I lived until I graduated high school. After high school, I joined the Marine Corp and served for four years. Doing my active duty, I acquired a desire to attend college. After I was Honorable Discharged in late 1982, I decided to move to Laramie, Wyoming to attend the University of Wyoming (UW).

During my studies at UW, I took a bowling class and was hooked. I developed aspirations to be a collegiate bowler and compete against other universities. UW did not have a collegiate bowling team so I eventually moved to Boise to attend BSU since they had a club team that competed all over the western United States. I bowled there for four years and got to travel and compete with many good bowlers. One of the bowlers that I had an opportunity to compete against was Chris Barnes, one of the top professional bowlers today.

My interest in the computer industry began after I was hired by Hewlett Packard in the late 1980's. I have wanted to learn more about HTML and the internet for a while but this class fit the bill since it is an online class. I am really enjoying the class and have learned a lot in such a short time. It is very interesting to understand the inner workings of the internet.

I am currently employed at Cougar Mountain Software in Boise and have been there for almost 12 years. I started out as a software tester and did that for 5 years until an opportunity arose in the development department. I had taken some programming classes and had done very well in them. I was a developer for 4 years and then another opportunity arose when the company decided to create a new department. This opportunity was still as a developer but I would be creating customizations to our software for customers who needed modifications to use our software. I have been in this position for nearly 3 years and truely love going to work every day. Not too many people can say that!

Besides work and school, you will probably find me either attending/watching Boise State football games or playing poker. I attended the last two Fiesta Bowls that BSU participated in and was in the end zone section where Ian Johnson scored the two point conversion to beat Oklahoma and put BSU on the map. My interest and success in poker has led me to travel to Las Vegas every summer to participate in the World Series of Poker against the best poker players in the world. I even had a 12k+ score in the same event that Phil Helmuth won his 11th and last gold bracelet.
