My name is Ben Taylor, and my game is Starcraft 2. I already know what some of you are thinking. "This guy must be diamond league". Please. Allow me to introduce to you my personal philosophy of gaming.
In the following few sentences I will lay out a brief study of how I see gaming. Gaming is an art form. I will wait until the chuckles subside. Seriously, say it right now aloud, until you get used to the sound of it rolling off of your tonuge. "Gaming is an art form".
Seeing my gaming experience, yes, even the battlefield, as a canvas, and the players are layers of paint. My keystrokes are timed to perfect rythmn, yet not mechanical like a clock. Every move, every unit becomes one with the artist. If one zergling dies under my command, I feel it. I mark his death down, but I recognize the sacrifices a commander must make to achieve total victory. It's never easy, because I immerse myself in every gaming experience. If I'm going to play, I'm going to be good, sure, but more importantly, my gamging experience must transcend my boring everyday life. This is the poor man's way of achieving status. Any comman man can now be a god of his online world. I can achieve through my profile and avatar, a status, relationships, and aclaim. No, it's not currency in this real world, but in a digital age, it's my small piece of fame and fortune, and it is enough.
